Overview

The black DR-05X Portable Handheld Digital Audio Recorder from Tascam offers high-quality recording in a lightweight and compact design that anyone can use, and is perfect for musicians, teachers, journalists, and more. It records WAV or MP3 files at rates up to 24-bit/96 kHz to microSD or microSDHC cards of up to 128 GB for reliable, skip-free storage. A pair of omnidirectional microphones allow you to record in stereo or you can use your own microphone by connecting it to the 3.5mm (0.8") stereo input (plug-in power provided).

An integrated speaker and a 3.5mm headphone jack make it easy to listen to your recordings to make sure everything was captured perfectly. The large display screen shows vital information during recording and playback, while the intuitive controls provide quick and easy single-handed operation. The Peak Reduction feature will automatically set your recording level by listening to the audio input and adjusting for the best level. When used alongside the built-in limiter, unwanted distortion becomes a thing of the past.

The DR-05X's 3.5mm mini-jack input accommodates mic- or line-level signals and can supply plug-in power if needed. Whether you use the built-in mics or an external source, selectable modes such as peak reduction, limiting, and auto level give you options for achieving clean and undistorted recordings.

Omnidirectional Recording

It features some omnidirectional microphones that capture sound from all directions and are permanently spaced apart in an A/B configuration, yielding a broad, sphere-like pickup pattern.

Line Input with Plug-In Power

The 3.5mm stereo mic/line input lets you connect external mics and sound sources. Also, The jack even provides plug-in power for mics that require it.

Supports microSDXC Cards up to 128GB

With a 128GB card, the DR-05X can record in stereo for up to 192 hours at 16-bit / 44.1 kHz using uncompressed, BWF-compliant, WAV format.

Headphone Output

You can easily connect a pair of headphones to the 3.5mm mini jack for critical listening. Quick monitor checks can be done through the DR-05X's built-in mono speaker.

USB Microphone and Audio Interface Functionality

Via an USB, the DR-05X can transfer files conviniently or be used as a a USB microphone or 2-in / 2-out audio interface for your favorite audio software.

Power

Two AA alkine batteries included offers up to 17.5 hours of stereo recording time at 16-bit / 44.1 kHz resolution. Incase of long recording sessions, this recorder can be powered via a USB connection to a computer or mobile battery.

Ideal for Handheld or Tripod-Mounted Use

On the underside of the DR-05X is a 1/4"-20 threaded hole to mount it to mount it on a mic stand or tripod for stable positioning. The streamlined body lends itself to comfortable use when held in the hand or placed in a pocket.

Selectable Recording Functions

The DR-05X offers several recording functions that simplify your workflow and save you from missing the beginning of a performance. It also has self-timer funtion when recording yourself at a set period time of 5 or 10 seconds.

To its capability to capture crisp voice recording, DR-X can help you with its Jump back function, variable Speed function and equalizer preset for human voice.
